Dr. Angelica Lang
- Awarded Researcher of the Year at the Department of Medicine’s annual banquet and achieving second place at the Department of Medicine’s Faculty Research Day.
- Awarded tenure and promotion to Associate Professor, effective July 1, 2025.
- Recognized by CIHR as an Outstanding Reviewer in their Fall 2024 Project Grant competition, a recognition for 17% of reviewers.
- Won a 2nd place Presentation Award at the Department of Medicine’s Research Day.

Thesis Defenses
- Alejandra Castillo Toro - successful MSc thesis defense. MSc dissertation: "Antimicrobial-Resistant Genes in Bioaerosols from Saskatchewan Livestock Operations"
- August Kortzman, PhD student, Clinical Psychology with Dr. O’Connell, on the successful defense of his PhD dissertation in the Department of Psychology and Health Studies! PhD dissertation: “Informal Social Support in Caregivers of Persons with Dementia: A Systematic Review of Effectiveness of Informal Social Support Interventions and a Trial Intervention.”
- Seshni Naidoo - successful defense of her MSc - Nutrition in the Department of Pharmacy and Nutrition at USask. Her thesis: “Nutrition Care in “House Model” Long-Term Care: A Collective Case Study” was supervised by Dr. Allison Cammer.
Student Awards
- Denise Balogh, PhD - received the University of Saskatchewan’s Dean’s Scholarship, a two-year scholarship awarded to high-calibre students on campus.
- Sarah Fitzgerald, PhD - won a 2nd Place Poster Presentation Award (2nd Place) in her category at the Life and Health Sciences Research Day in May.
- Heather Alford, RaDAR Trainee - awarded a $500 USask Graduate Master’s Thesis Award in the Life Sciences category. Graduate Thesis Awards are made in recognition of outstanding research achievement. Heather was supervised by Dr. Allison Cammer.
Academic Partners
- Dr. Jay Shavadia - awarded first place for his presentation at the Department of Medicine’s Faculty Research Day.
