Free public film screenings - May 8th & May 11th: A community-engaged art project supporting artists living with dementia and their caregivers

Dr. Bonnie Jeffery from the Faculty of Social Work (U of R) and SPHERU has been leading a 5-year project focused on dementia supports in rural Saskatchewan. The project has funded 8 community-based interventions; one of these interventions is an initiative delivered by the Godrey Dean Art Gallery in Yorkton. An outcome of this project has been a film documenting the work and experiences of those involved in this community-engaged art project that supported artists living with dementia and their care partners. Lead Artists Alana Moore and Amber Phelps Bondaroff worked closely with a community of 12 artists from Yorkton and surrounding areas whose lives have been impacted by dementia. In this hour-long documentary, filmmaker Adrienne (Sunny) Adams weaves documentation of the artworks created with personal stories and experiences of the artists involved. Both events are free and open to the public - we do ask that you register so that we will know how many are attending.
